  • Morton students take 2nd & 3rd place in 2021 MLK essay contest

    Morton Middle seventh grader Jai Kapadia was runner-up and eighth grader Fernando Hislop placed third in the 2021 Unity Breakfast essay contest, whose theme was “Unity: In an Age of Uncertainty.” Their prizes were $300 and $100, respectively. The Martin Luther King Jr. Day event, which is going virtual because of COVID-19 restrictions, will air at 8 a.m. Monday, Jan. 18, on MeTV (18.2), Spectrum cable channel 186; and at 11 a.m. on WLEX-TV.

    The Alpha Beta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity’s Education Foundation sponsors the annual essay contest, which is open to all Fayette County middle schoolers. For questions, please email Kenneth Jones, director of educational activities.

    Morton Middle School is proud to announce this year's district-level winners for the PTA Reflections program, whose 2021 theme is "I Matter Because..." These students' work will advance for state judging.

  • YMCA basketball leagues forming

    Online registration for YMCA basketball in Lexington will begin Jan. 18; it is open to all middle school students. The season starts Feb. 5 and runs through March 12. Games will be played on Friday nights. Register here or call Mr. Kendrick Adams at (859) 367-7357 for more information.
