Child Nutrition (Food Service)

Meal service during NTI/2DL
- Free bagged meals are available for anyone 18 and younger; children do not have to be enrolled in FCPS.
- Children do not have to be present for meals pickup.
Meals are distributed at school and community pickup locations between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Mondays (two breakfasts and two lunches) and Wednesdays (three breakfasts and three lunches), with adjustments for holidays (MLK Day on Jan. 18 and Presidents Day on Feb. 15) and inclement weather. Food bags are available at any site regardless of student enrollment. Please limit pickups to once per household so there's enough food for everyone in need.
Our district, through federally assisted meal programs, provides nutritionally balanced, low-cost, or free meals to students each school day. Children who are hungry find it hard to stay alert and participate in their classroom experiences, so we help close the readiness gap with a good breakfast before classes begin. We also plan school lunches that provide one-third of the recommended dietary allowances for school-age children. Menus include a daily variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, low-fat milk, and whole-grain products. Also, we've made changes in food specifications and preparation to lower fat, sodium, and sugar content.
